About Julie
I have an undergraduate degree in special education and a master's degree in elementary education. I am National Board certified in special education and I have experience teaching students with learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD. I truly love working with children, and I have many strategies that I have found to be tried and true with teaching reading and math. I have been teaching at the same elementary school for 28 years.

I love teaching! My family often picks on me because I love staying late on Fridays and getting things ready for my students for the next week. I do the same when preparing for tutoring sessions. I guess after 28 years I still love “playing teacher!”
I recognize that students at the elementary level have difficulty staying on task, and I like to set up my lessons in 15-20 minute blocks within the hour time slot to keep student interest. I also provide students with a checklist or outline of the session. I don’t like wasted time and this is one way I have found to make the most of every minute we have.
