About Finley
My name is Finley, and I am a graduate of Algonquin College’s Electrical Engineering Technician program. I have a strong foundation in math, science and electrical engineering topics, including robotics, circuit analysis, and AutoCAD. I also have experience tutoring high school students in math, science, and English, including students with learning differences and special needs. As a neurodiverse learner myself, I understand the value of structured, patient guidance and have developed strategies that make complex concepts easier to understand. I focus on hands-on explanations, step-by-step problem solving, and practice-based learning, helping students build confidence and succeed in their courses. I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment, tailored to each student’s needs and learning style. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to help them truly understand the material and develop the skills needed to excel in their study.

My name is Finley. My teaching approach is hands on and step by step, focusing on clear explanations and practical understanding. I like to start lessons by reviewing examples from class or creating new examples tailored to the student’s needs, so we can work through them together. As we progress, I often conclude sessions with a larger practice test when exams or midterms are approaching, helping students consolidate knowledge and build confidence.
As a neurodiverse learner myself, I have developed strategies that make learning concepts simpler and more approachable. I use these techniques to help students grasp material efficiently, whether they are high school or college students, studying math, science, or electrical engineering topics. I also have experience working with students who benefit from structured, patient guidance, making my lessons adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
What sets me apart is my combination of technical knowledge and empathy as a learner, allowing me to connect with students and help them understand material in a way that is both thorough and approachable.
