About Edward

- What kind of experience do you have?

I am a highly experienced brass teachers with a large and successful teaching studio. I currently teach students from beginner to beyond grade 8 with many students going off to study at music colleges and universaties. I currently teach both privately and in schools across the Leeds area.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes and I have safeguarding and safer recruitment training from the Department for Business,Innovation and Skills.

- Where and with whom did you train?

I studied Trombone and Euphonium at both Leeds College of Music and Trinity College of Music and my trombone teachers included members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of Opera North. At these colleges I studied both Classical and Jazz performance along with more academic subjects like composition, Theory and Harmony. I also took classes in teaching both 1 to 1 and group and conducting to complement my studies.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current students ages range from6 to 70 and they all have great reviews of my teaching, Many of them are sitting their graded exams and I have a record of excellent results including grade 8 distinction in a variety of instrumental exams, I have also tutored students to achieve good A level and GCSE results including A's and A stars. Former students now study at Music Colleges and Universities on scholarship . Other students play simply for pleasure and have a rewarding time learning their instrument as a hobby learning their favorite song or joining a ensemble. Whatever your age you should not be put off learning an instrument you are never to young or to old to learn a new skill like an instrument!

Hello and a warm welcome to my page. I am an experienced teacher of all brass instruments, theory and academic music lessons, teaching students of all ages and abilities.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

i teach all brass instruments,, music theory, a level and GCSE Music and a variety of other music related subjects. I teach these subjects from beginner to diploma standard to pupils of all ages, your never to young or to old to start playing an instrument.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a first class honors degree in performance from Leeds College of Music studying with members of the orchestra of opera north and famous jazz musicians. Before this I studied at Trinity College of Music studying with members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

- How much do you charge?

Lessons cost £15for half an hour lessons, and an hour instrumental lessons is £25 and for academic subjects it is £25. This fee covers my travel and time spent planning your individual lesson which is tailored to your needs and musical goals. I offer a deal that the first lesson is half price to allow you to try a lesson with me and see if you enjoy your lesson.

- Where do you teach?

I teach throughout Leeds and Harrogate. Students have the option of traveling to my house to have a lesson or I will travel to the students residence. Many students prefer this option as they feel more relaxed in their home to learn.

- When are you available?

I teach every day of the week including weekends both in the daytime and evening, allowing me to teach your lesson whenever is suitable for you,

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and abilities, and believe that as long as the pupil wants to learn an instrument they deserve the best tuition that I can give them.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I prepare students for whichever board they prefer. However I do recommend TrinityGuildhall as I believe they have a better choice of pieces and more detailed feedback for the students performance. For GCSE/A level I am happy teaching all exam boards and have 100% pass rate for exam entries with many students achieving distinctions and merits and high A level grades.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I teach many students online over Skype from all over the country and it offers the comfort of learning in your home whether you are in the country. I have a high quality internet connection allowing our lessons to not be interrupted by lag. I email work and lesson plans to students in the week before the lesson allowing the student to be prepared for the work we are going to study. I offer a discount for Skype lessons of £3 off the price listed so a 30 min instrumental lesson would cost £9 instead of £12 as this is the usual cost of petrol of my travel; payment is through Bank Transfer after the lesson has happened.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

No matter how old or how young you are music can enhance your life and be great fun and I want to share the passion that I have for music with you. Whether you want to learn your favorite pop song or play in an orchestra I can teach you the skills for you to achieve these goals. All my lessons are tailored and planed for your specific needs, as this will allow you to achieve the best possible results for you in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
