About Bryan
Hi! I'm Bryan, and I'm an Education Student at UCL, and I've been teaching Japanese for a few years now, but have been learning for 7 years and am at a good working proficiency in Japanese.
I grew up in an international school in Hong Kong, and then came to the UK for secondary school. I've had experience tutoring since I was 15, and have had internships and work experience teaching a variety of students from foreign-language-level English to native speakers. My degree has helped me better focus my teaching methods, and has helped me become able to aid my students more effectively.
I'm happy to help with grammar, speaking, accent reduction, conversation practice, vocabulary, and many other aspects of Japanese!

I aim to make the lessons more fun and enjoyable, and even if a textbook is used, I will try to make the lessons more interesting for the student, which I believe aids them in remembering new content. (e.g. linking concepts or vocabulary to topics the student is already interested in)
A typical lesson plan for beginner students might be going over the alphabet (hiragana/katakana), a few new grammar concepts, or vocabulary, and then aiming to have the student remember and learn to use these new grammar points or words by the end of the lesson.
However, for Intermediate level students, lessons will be more in Japanese (i.e. we will try to speak as much Japanese as possible over the course of the lesson), and the lesson content might be focused on more advanced grammar points, accents, and/or slang to increase their Japanese level, or to make their Japanese sound more natural in day-to-day life.
The lessons are for anybody who is aiming to increase their Japanese level, regardless of age.
