About Maiah

I began piano at the age of 7, and like most kids, did not have the attention span to practice for long periods of time. My passion for piano began to blossom in high school when I began performing and competing in piano. Healthy competition motivated me the most to practice and do my best. In college, I received many scholarships and highest scores from my exams and performances. My success was preceded by hours of practice - about 8-12 hours per day! I would like to emphasize taking brief breaks to prevent stress-related wrist injuries in advanced level piano performance, for the sake of both mental health and love of the instrument.

About the lesson

For my piano lessons, I like to approach the first lesson as an introduction, to get to know my students' skill level and preferred learning style. Everyone learns at different paces and absorbs different concepts in their own unique way, which is a fun thing to learn about everyone.
After the first lesson, I create a curriculum unique to the student's current skill level and musical genre preferences, incorporating the necessary rudimentary musical concepts with each new song and scale learned.
