About Tom
I have always known English is essential, and like most people English was a part of my compulsory education. It was only much later that I realised the wider application English has. From writing a good CV to criticising a newspaper, English is essential to gaining a holistic understanding of the world around us. I think this is important, and it is why I want to teach English.

I'm comfortable with teaching all forms and genres of literature, and seek to encourage students to firstly become comfortable comprehending, analysing, and then comparing selected literature before working on essay and exam technique. I have an MA in English literature, and I think with a few well-developed techniques, anyone can develop a nuanced and perceptive understanding of literature.
