About Saad
I'm Saad, a CFA charterholder. I spent fourteen years in investment banking — financial advisory, syndicated lending, M&A, infrastructure advisory — and moved to Auckland with my family recently. I live in Albany.
Earning the charter took three exams and several years of studying around a full-time job, so I know exactly what this material feels like from the other side of the desk. And the part of my job I always liked most was the whiteboard: explaining to a junior analyst why a model behaves the way it does, and watching the moment it stops being a formula and starts making sense. That moment is genuinely satisfying, and I've missed it.
I'm not a career tutor and I won't read a textbook at you. What I offer is someone who has used this material under real pressure on real transactions, and who is patient with people meeting it for the first time — because the people who taught me were patient with me.

How I teach
Economics gets taught as memorization, and then a question comes up worded slightly differently and it falls apart. I teach it the other way around: intuition first, diagrams second, terminology last. I'll give you a problem and stay quiet while you attempt it — where you hesitate tells me more than asking what you find hard. Then worked examples, past exam questions, and you explaining it back to me in your own words.
Fourteen years in investment banking means I can tell you what interest rates, inflation and exchange rates actually did to a real transaction. Students remember examples; they forget definitions.
Lessons
60 minutes for school level, 90 for university and exam prep. First 20 minutes free so we can check the fit.
Background
CFA charterholder, [your degree]. Fourteen years in corporate and investment banking — project finance, syndicated lending, infrastructure advisory, most recently at unit head level. I trained junior analysts throughout, so teaching technical material to people seeing it for the first time is not new to me.
Who it's for
NCEA Levels 1–3, Cambridge, IB, and university economics through to postgrad. Also corporate finance, valuation and financial modeling. Adults returning to study welcome.
Online with a shared whiteboard, or in person on the North Shore.
