About Dr Gabriella
- Completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science in 2015 with First Class Honours.
- Completed my PhD in Biomedical Science in 2020.
My research focus involved cell culture techniques to investigate the neuroprotective mechanisms of poly-arginine peptides in stroke at the Perron Institute.
- Was employed as a Postdoctoral Associate at Duke University in the U.S in 2020.
My role involved coordination of research teams to create novel iPSC-based models of neurodegenerative diseases (k.e. Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease), and use these models to test state-of-the-art CRISPR-based gene therapy approaches.
- Currently employed in the industry sector of medical research.
During all this time (5+ years experience), I have always made time to tutor hundreds of high school and university student both professionally and privately. I find teaching an incredibly rewarding experience, and find much joy in watching students push themselves and reach new heights. :-)
