About Lola
I have been teaching guitar for 3 years, supported by a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a Guitar Emphasis. In addition to tutoring, I compose and perform regularly, which informs my teaching style. My speciality is in acoustic fingerstyle and classical guitar. I work with students at all stages, from those picking up the guitar for the first time to advanced musicians looking to refine artistry. For beginners, I focus on establishing a strong foundation with encouragement and clarity. For advanced players, we explore intricate arrangements, advanced techniques, and musical storytelling. I view music as a creative journey that lasts a lifetime. Lessons are designed to spark inspiration as much as they build discipline. Expression and nuance are always emphasised alongside technical skill. Students are supported in developing their own musical voice. My goal is to make the guitar a tool for both skill and self-expression. Together, we’ll explore music as art, craft, and personal expression.

My methodology is rooted in showing how music theory applies directly to guitar playing. We explore scales, modes, chord construction, and harmonic analysis in practical ways. Lessons focus on making theory feel intuitive rather than abstract. I support The Aspiring Rock Star in building riffs, solos, and improvisation. The Classical Purist gains deeper insight into musical structure and phrasing. Exercises connect theory with fretboard patterns and real music examples. Students practise applying concepts in compositions and improvisation. Lessons are tailored to each learner’s level and goals. My approach balances technique, theory, and creativity. Students gain fluency and confidence through guided practice. I emphasise understanding rather than memorisation. Each session reinforces the connection between knowledge and playing. Together, we unlock both technical skill and expressive freedom on the guitar.
