About Syed
I am a law and social sciences specialist with experience spanning academia, professional practice and international education. I hold an LLB in Law, an MA in International Relations and East Asia from the University of Sheffield, and a certificate from the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme. I am currently undertaking doctoral research in Law at the University of Sheffield, beginning October 2026.
I have three years of private tutoring experience working with A Level and university students in Law and Politics, one year of professional teaching experience in China, one year of frontline UK policing experience, and am the founder and director of a UK-registered education consultancy.

I enjoy working with students who are capable but feel their written work doesn't reflect what they actually know. My sessions focus on building genuine understanding of arguments, of academic expectations, and of how to express ideas clearly and with confidence.
My approach is structured but conversational. I pay particular attention to how arguments are constructed, how marking criteria actually operate, and how to produce written work that clearly demonstrates what you know — rather than simply coaching for assessments.
Sessions run 60 minutes and are tailored to what each student needs most whether that is breaking down a complex legal concept, developing essay structure and argumentation, navigating a dissertation, or building confidence in independent academic work.
I am particularly well placed to support university students struggling with essay writing or legal analysis, international students adjusting to
UK academic expectations, and postgraduate students working on dissertations or research projects.
All sessions are delivered online.
