About Caroline M
From 2009 to 2013 I gave knitting classes at a local university in a project called DCE Workshops UFSC. This workshop was a weekly meeting of 1 hour, usually on Fridays, where the goal was to make at least one piece per semester. Especially for people who had never done knitting in life. Then I explained how to assemble the points in the first class, then the basics. I like to do finishes and other tricks with crochet needle, so I also taught the basics of crochet. Several people learned or recalled the teachings of their mothers, grandparents and / or great-grandparents taught. How did I learn? As a child with the grandmother, great-grandmother and maternal aunt-grandmother I learned knitting, with the paternal grandmother I learned crocheting and with my mother I learned to embroider on grid (and many other handicrafts such as tapestry/woolwork) and with my godmother I learned cross stitch. This workshop was a gathering of people with a common interest in learning to knit, this affinity friendships arose and we continued exchanging experiences. It was a joy to see every person with pride of their work, effort / progress in learning a new skill. I finished a Lingerie course in a school of sewing last year. My first desire that motivated to take this course was aiming to transform old t-shirts in cotton panties, inspired by the superziper site of crafters who are also enthusiasts of DIY. Well, now I know how to do simple panties, quick and easy, with own knits for lingerie and woven fabrics. Also I'm sailing in the maker movement sea with 3D printing / adapting plastic 3D models of sites like Thingiverse and the like. In order to mix old school techniques with tech innovations to create my corner with my personality and if possible with minimal waste and cost and maximum fun and creativity.

I love to make things. Create, say to my friends "I made that". I'm picky and like things tailored to my body, my needs. I do not like consumerism or produce waste. I avoid disposable things. I Love REUSE. Professionally working with mathematical abstractions and then I feel a need to have a hobby "to make things", to "thinking with my hands." Teaching these "doings" is a way to rescue the artisan within each person and make a little cash to buy raw materials, pay for 3D prints, fabrics, lace, classes... You need to choose which technique will be learned in each lesson or set of lessons in advance according to need and experience of each person. We will chat about it a little before the lesson and in the first one.
