About Cheryl
EDUCATION I am a graduate of the Architectural Association with both a BA (Hons) and MArch, and currently working in practice at Bjarke Ingels Group London. Having been trained in RIBA Part I and II at a world-class university, I am able to provide insight into the type of students top-tier schools are looking for, and how to eloquently present yourself and your projects during an interview to get a memorable point across. At undergraduate level, I’ve held offers from Cardiff University, Manchester School of Architecture, Sheffield University, Central Saint Martins and the AA. I achieved a 100% UMS score in my A Level Fine Art exam, a testament to my ability to develop and present a project from start to finish. During my final years of university, I also accomplished two individual pieces of award-winning writing projects. CAREER With successful interviews from multiple international firms, I am able to help you develop an eye-catching portfolio that is made with care and translates your design ethos and personality across to any viewer. This skill also comes from the fact that I contribute to reviewing applications to my current practice, and knowing first-hand what makes it through the screening process and what does not. In addition to 2 years at BIG (till present), I’ve also gained experience in the 2021 Seoul Biennale exhibition curation, researching for a PhD dissertation, and presented as Guest Lecturer at multiple university summer schools / high school student workshops. I’ve also been a member of several jury panels at internal crits.

I offer the first 30 minute session for free, just for us to get to know each other and plan a robust course together after identifying your goals and needs. Below are what we can cover in subsequent lessons. PORTFOLIO REVIEW Review your existing portfolio or build one from scratch together after identifying which key materials you have shine the most. Provide a storyline and structure to the portfolio to allow your personality and narrative to stand out. We can do Adobe InDesign workshops to further improve this as well, crafting a portfolio with care and intent. PERSONAL STATEMENT AND CV REVIEW Review your university application or cover letter to practices to correct grammar, improve structure and ensure a clear communication of your objective gets across. We can also do mock interviews based on typical university questions. ESSAY OR DISSERTATION REVIEW Mark up your existing pieces of written work (i.e. history and theory essays, coursework reflection etc.) or build a thesis structure together from scratch. My essays have won awards at Masters level and my final dissertation was shortlisted for a prize. DRAWING AND REPRESENTATION WORKSHOP Identify how to improve any of your existing drawings, with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator workshops and tutorials available if you need them. SOFTWARE TUTORIALS Learn or brush up your skills on the following applications: Rhinoceros3D, Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape
