About Sorana
I am a qualified architect with a Master's Degree from the Architectural Association. I have a strong background in art and continue to cultivate my passion for design.
I work on mixed residential and commercial projects in the UK for a large practice.
I have continuously worked in the field since my Part 1 and have a good grasp of how to build a strong work ethic and approach projects for university, as well as how to be successful in practice.
I honestly believe that architecture is a difficult career that requires a lot of work, but that doesn't have to be daunting. I wish to support other young professionals or students in their design journey.
I have experience in academia and have reviewed applications for my current workplace. I strive to keep myself up to date with the field and always find the fun in architecture (even when I'm doing an all-nighter).
I am friendly, encouraging and hardworking but I wish for my students to feel in a relaxed environment where they feel that they can develop.

In my personal experience, I found a bridge between academia and practice, and the support given to students to realise their full projects. This is applicable for professionals who wish to change their domain, approach a new position, or learn a new skill.
Depending on the student's objective, we will implement a methodology that they can apply outside of the tutoring sessions as well.
Based on the OSKAR method to help guide the lessons:
- Outcome: Help the students establish what they want to achieve.
- Scaling: Help the students assess where they are now.
- Affirm/Action: Review what’s going well and what the next step is.
- Know-How: Discuss how the student can make progress and start working together.
- Review: (From lesson to lesson) help the student assess what’s better and what made it happen.
Some topics of lessons I can help with:
1. Intro to architecture and design
- Help you build a portfolio and understand how to approach a design brief.
- Aid in developing a strong application for university and identifying potential areas to expand.
2. Work sample review, CV, and key presentation skills in practice
- Review your CV and portfolio if you are job hunting and assist in building a strong sample.
3. Developing software and model-making skills
- Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, Enscape, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.
- Depending on your current skills and project, we can plan the lessons accordingly.
- If you wish to gain knowledge on how specific software is used in practice or interview tests, I can create examples for the student to exercise with.
4. Technical design
- In-depth review of your project, identifying and drafting key details.
5. Part 3 Exam
- Review and discuss your case study against Part 3 criteria and aid in prepping you for the interview process.
- Share notes, summaries, and study materials.
- Cover the dos and don'ts before the exam and how to approach the questions.
- Prepare and review mock exams
