About Judith
Twenty years of teaching has convinced me that most violin students are capable of far more than gentle low-pressure lessons typically allow them to achieve. My own training was rigorous and demanding under teachers who never let sloppy technique slide, and I remain genuinely grateful for that discipline even though it felt tough at the time. My studio is not the right fit for every family, and I say that directly upfront because I would rather teach committed serious students than fill a schedule with casual disengaged ones. I track detailed technical progress for every student because real accountability is what actually separates measurable growth from vague good intentions. Parents consistently tell me they specifically sought me out because they wanted a teacher who pushes their child rather than one who simply praises every attempt equally. After twenty years and eight hundred sixty students, I see no reason to soften this demanding approach because it consistently delivers real results.

My violin studio runs on twenty years of proof that firm structure beats loose encouragement when it comes to building real technical ability on this demanding instrument. Bow control, posture, and intonation are non-negotiable starting points, and a student does not touch advanced repertoire until those fundamentals are genuinely locked in place. I check practice logs thoroughly at the start of every single lesson and call out weak preparation directly because vague praise does not build genuine skill. Every piece is broken into precise measurable technical goals, and I hold students firmly accountable to hitting them week after week rather than drifting along loosely. Corrections happen immediately and specifically the moment I hear a technical problem rather than waiting until the end of a piece to mention it gently. I am not here to make every lesson feel effortless and fun; I am here to build violinists who can genuinely perform under real pressure. Students who commit fully to this demanding structure consistently walk away with a level of technical control that softer teaching styles rarely produce.
