About Ciera
After earning a Bachelor's degree in Commercial Music, Ciera has coached students on the real-world aspects of being a musician—how to audition and land roles, perform confidently as a vocalist or pianist, and other skills.
I am an actively-performing musician and experienced music educator, NATS member (National Association of Teachers of Singing), and formally-trained vocalist and pianist, having been in a select vocal ensemble backing Grammy-winning artists such as Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Michael W. Smith, and many other reputable artists.

As an educator, I cater each lesson to the student’s abilities, interests, and goals, creating a fun yet educationally-stimulating learning environment for students 3+ years old, including teens and adults. My teaching style encourages critical thinking, musical ownership, collaboration, and technical application.
Lessons can take place in-home, in-studio, or in-home (based in San Diego—please ask for more details if you are interested in in-person options). Lessons begin with warm-up exercises intended to support the songs and/or learning materials. Often, we incorporate book curriculum into lessons, but, unlike many other educators, the students are also encouraged to bring in song recommendations that match their personal interests, such as pop songs, soundtracks, or other music that they enjoy. This approach not only provides a dynamic educational experience, but also a memorable and exciting experience for the student. Finally, we discuss the areas to practice in between lessons.
During the lesson, I’m always sure to take notes that describe each lesson’s activities, which allows students and/or parents to track and celebrate progress.
