About Ivy
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance and have 7 years of experience teaching students at various levels. My training included orchestral performance, chamber music collaboration, and solo repertoire study. Teaching allowed me to transform performance knowledge into clear, practical guidance for learners.
My teaching approach combines structured technical exercises with musical exploration. I believe that accuracy and expression should grow together. Students often appreciate my calm explanations and detailed demonstrations. I adjust lessons to match each learner’s pace and comfort level.
Beyond teaching, I continue practicing advanced repertoire to refine my skills. Staying connected to performance keeps my lessons fresh and inspiring. My violin lessons focus on building strong technique while encouraging expressive playing. We begin with posture alignment, bow hold adjustment, and open string exercises to ensure proper foundation. Slow scale practice helps develop intonation accuracy and steady tone. I guide students in listening carefully to pitch and making small corrections independently. Rhythm exercises are included to strengthen timing and coordination.
As learners progress, we explore shifting positions, vibrato introduction, and dynamic control. I break down complex passages into smaller sections for steady improvement. Students practice musical phrasing and learn how to shape melodies naturally. Performance preparation is also included, helping learners manage nervousness through repetition and mental focus strategies.
Each lesson balances discipline and encouragement. I provide detailed feedback while maintaining a supportive atmosphere. My goal is to help students feel confident and relaxed when playing. With patience and structured practice, violin becomes both technically strong and emotionally expressive.
