About Lillian
I am a piano tutor with 6 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a Piano Focus. I have taught over 200 students from young beginners to adult learners across all piano styles. My lessons cover classical technique, jazz chord playing, pop piano, music theory, and examination preparation. I create fully personalised lesson plans that reflect each student's goals and musical interests. I use backing tracks, ear training apps, and composition tools to keep sessions engaging. I am patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to making every student feel motivated and capable. My piano lessons develop technique, theory, and musical creativity in a fully integrated and enjoyable way throughout every session. Every session starts with scales, arpeggios, and technique exercises designed to build a healthy and reliable technical foundation at the student's specific level. Theory is introduced progressively alongside practical playing so understanding grows naturally as skills develop rather than feeling like a separate abstract subject. Jazz students explore chord voicings, rhythmic comping patterns, improvisation approaches, and the harmonic language that defines jazz piano. Classical students work through carefully graded repertoire alongside supporting technique studies appropriate to their examination board and level. Pop and contemporary students develop chord-based playing, song accompaniment, and stylistic rhythmic feel that makes modern piano sound genuinely musical. I use backing tracks consistently to develop timing, groove, and the ability to play with expressive feel. Composition is offered to students who want to write their own music, progressing from simple pieces to more complete and personal original works. Detailed written practice notes are provided after every lesson so home practice is always focused and productive. My goal is for every student to become a genuinely confident and joyful pianist who loves making music at the piano.
