About Maia
With 6 years of experience teaching piano, I help students explore the expressive world of jazz. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology (Piano History), which supports my deep interest in the historical and harmonic development of jazz piano. My lessons focus on improvisation, comping, and building a refined harmonic vocabulary.
Students learn how to interpret complex chord progressions and create melodic ideas in real time. I guide learners through jazz theory, ear training for advanced harmonies, and transcription exercises. These activities develop listening skills and strengthen musical understanding. Rhythmic precision is also a key focus in every lesson.
I have supported students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, as well as Professional and Expert jazz musicians. Each lesson balances technique, theory, and creative exploration. My goal is to help every student develop their own musical voice. Let’s begin your journey into expressive jazz improvisation.

My piano teaching approach focuses on creativity, structure, and musical storytelling. I help students develop strong piano skills such as finger technique, chord knowledge, and rhythm accuracy. Along with these foundations, I introduce songwriting techniques for piano. Students learn how to compose melodies and support them with meaningful harmonies.
I also teach how to build musical sections such as intros, themes, bridges, and outros. Lessons explore chord progressions, musical phrasing, and emotional expression. Creativity is encouraged, but ideas are organized so students understand how music is built. This helps learners turn inspiration into complete pieces.
Students who use music for relaxation and personal expression receive patient and supportive guidance. I also work closely with learners interested in deeper harmony and improvisation influenced by jazz piano. Each lesson strengthens musical imagination and confidence. Students gradually move from simple ideas to full compositions. They learn how to shape music with purpose and clarity. With practice and creativity, your piano skills will grow naturally. In time, you will compose music that reflects your unique voice.
