About Matteo

My journey with guitar began when I first discovered how expressive a single chord could feel and how music could communicate emotions that words sometimes cannot. That fascination led me to earn a B.Mus in Contemporary Guitar Performance, where I explored technique, theory, ensemble work, and the art of connecting sound to emotion. Over the last 11 years, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching students of all ages and backgrounds, shaping my approach around patience, clarity, and supportive instruction. I believe every student arrives with their own rhythm, personality, and learning style, and part of my role is to meet them exactly where they are while guiding them gently forward. In my teaching, I emphasize encouragement, natural pacing, and honest but kind feedback. I understand that learning an instrument involves both technical development and emotional confidence, so I always ensure students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and celebrating small wins. My lessons reflect the belief that musical growth should feel meaningful, empowering, and deeply enjoyable. I want students to feel proud of themselves not only for playing well but for understanding music more deeply and personally. Outside of teaching, I continue exploring new genres, recording small projects, and participating in collaborative music environments that keep my artistic perspective fresh. I love sharing discoveries with students, showing them how diverse and exciting guitar can be. Teaching remains one of the most rewarding parts of my life because it allows me to support others in discovering their musical voice and experiencing the confidence and joy that come with developing a skill they genuinely love.

About the lesson

Learning guitar becomes exciting and accessible when students feel supported with clear explanations, steady guidance, and a gentle pace that makes every new step feel achievable. In my lessons, I focus on building a strong foundation that includes clean fretting, relaxed posture, rhythmic steadiness, and expressive control. Each session is designed to help students understand not only how to play but also how to listen, interpret, and connect emotionally with the music they create. I introduce techniques gradually so students can absorb them comfortably while maintaining confidence and curiosity throughout the learning process. By blending theory, practical exercises, improvisation basics, and guided play-along activities, learners steadily develop a sense of musical independence.

Intermediate students begin exploring more advanced chord shapes, dynamic contrast, articulation patterns, and fretboard fluency. I encourage them to identify their preferred styles—acoustic, electric, fingerstyle, pop, or blues—so we can deepen the techniques that resonate with them most. Advanced learners work on improvisation control, melodic shaping, tonal refinement, and expressive performance habits. Each lesson includes constructive feedback offered with warmth and clarity, ensuring students understand how to strengthen their skills without feeling pressured or overwhelmed. My goal is always for students to leave each session feeling inspired, capable, and excited about their musical progress.

As learners continue growing, our lessons expand into musical interpretation, phrasing choices, and personal artistic voice. Students begin developing a deeper understanding of how to use tone, timing, and expression to communicate emotion through their playing. We work on performance readiness, including stage comfort, musical storytelling, and creating a calm mindset that supports confident expression. Through consistent guidance, students learn to balance discipline with creativity, building a lifelong relationship with the instrument. Whether someone is pursuing serious performance goals or simply enjoying guitar as a fulfilling hobby, I aim to provide a learning experience that nurtures growth, joy, and authentic musical identity.
