Welcome! I'm a Deaf native ASL user from a multigenerational Deaf family, and ASL is my first language. I hold a BA from Gallaudet University and two master’s degrees - one in Human Resource Development and the other in Digital Learning. With years of experience teaching ASL privately, I bring both cultural authenticity and educational expertise to every session. I’m passionate about helping students build real-world signing skills in a supportive, engaging, and respectful learning environment. Whether you’re just beginning or advancing your fluency, I’ll meet you where you are and help you grow with confidence.

About the lesson

As a Deaf native ASL user from a multigenerational Deaf family, my teaching is rooted in authentic language use and cultural immersion. I prioritize a natural, conversational approach that mirrors how ASL is used in real life—not just how it's taught in books. My sessions are highly interactive, focusing on expressive and receptive skills through storytelling, role-playing, visual aids, and real-life scenarios. I tailor my teaching to each student’s goals and learning style. Whether you're a beginner learning fingerspelling or an advanced learner working on classifiers or Deaf culture fluency, I adapt my methods to suit your needs. I emphasize visual learning, cultural context, and consistent exposure to real ASL structure, not English-based signing. A typical session includes: Warm-up conversation in ASL to review previous material Introduction of new signs or grammar concepts Interactive practice (dialogues, games, role-play) Cultural notes and tips Feedback and Q&A Optional assignments or practice goals for the week I bring not only fluency but lived experience - I was born Deaf, raised in a Deaf family, and ASL is my first language.
