About Charlie
My name is Charlie and I have been working in the tech industry for over 8 years. I graduated from the University of Toronto with a double major in computer science and statistics. While there, I published my thesis on neural networks and their application to NBA basketball player performance.
After graduating, I worked at a variety of startups as a lead data scientist and senior engineer, helping take products from ideation to production. I've worked on applications with hundreds of thousands of users.
For the past several years, I've been working as a freelancing consultant, primarily helping startups go from an idea to a product. I've taken companies to $30 million valuations and beyond through my software skills and team management.
I think education is the key to success. A personal passion of mine tutoring so I can give back my knowledge to others and help them succeed in the way I have. Knowledge is power and everyone deserves it!

Tutoring in computer science needs to be project focused. Not only that, it must be a project that the student is interested in so they don't lose interest. If they're not actively involved in a curriculum, I will provide practical lessons that will result in the accomplishment of a coding project they choose.
A typical lesson plan consists of several weeks of tutoring. Once the student has selected a project they are interested in pursuing, I will put together a lesson plan to guide them and teach them how to make their idea a finished application. This teaches the entire software cycle as well as the necessary problem solving and perseverance to be successful in the software industry.
Since I am someone who has published academic research as well as several years of industry experience, I can help students achieve both their academic and career goals by having a strong fundamental knowledge of computer science in a variety of coding languages and technology stacks.
These lessons are for students 12 and above who are driven to learn about computer science in a practical way!
