About Mauro

The “Contemporary Jazz” course is a research work developed during long years of study and practice of contemporary dance and jazz by choreographer Mauro Rodriguez. During classes, students experience procedures and techniques used in contemporary dance and jazz, which contribute to the formation of the dance student as an interpreter. For some years, the merger of these two modalities has been a trend in several schools in Brazil and abroad, perhaps because there is a proximity in the movement characteristics between them. In this course we approach a reflection on the new trends, postures and contribution of dance to the formation of the individual.

About the lesson

Dancer and choreographer, fully qualified in dance and certified by the International Dance Council. More than 20 years of experience. He studied classical ballet, Jazz, Stretching, Theater, Body Expression, Modern and Contemporary Dance with: Tony Oliver, Roseli Rodrigues, Lúcia Vitto, Ruben Terranova, Dilma de Lima, Andréa Pivato. He took complementary courses in Jazz, contemporary and modern dance with: Roseli Rodrigues, Mário Nascimento, Miriam Druwe, Ivonice Satie, Regina Sauer, Helda Seró, Cristina Barnils, Jorge Garcia and Henrique Talma. Founder, dancer and choreographer of the group As Corpos de São José do Rio Pardo. Director and owner of the Ballet Mauro Rodriguez (1995 to 2000). He was a dancer at Raça Cia de Dança and Grupo Rama de Pirassununga. He worked as an actor and dancer in several operas at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo. He was part of the cast in the musical “Vitor e Vitória” starring actress Marília Pêra and directed by Jorge Takla. He choreographed and produced spectacular adaptations of the musicals: Annie, Mary Poppins, Chicago, Cat's, The Rebel Novice and Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Phantom of the Opera and The Princess and the Frog; Conducts research work in Brazil and abroad on content related to dance technique and choreographic composition. He gave a workshop on contemporary jazz in Dublin - Ireland. He was a choreographer and professor at Cia Kridans in São Paulo (2009 to 2015) He is currently a dancer and choreographer for the "MANICORPO" and "PHOENIX" Projects, in development and teaches jazz and contemporary dance classes.
