For me teaching choreography is not about making a performer. It is educating someone about the creative and perceptual skills to use movement as an artistic medium.
A dance teacher at a studio will probably choreograph a dance for a recital, but a choreographer may come in for a weekend to set a dance for a performance, leaving the teaching of the movement after it is learned by the dancers up to the teacher.
