About Tebogo
My name is Tebogo Tau and I am currently doing my 4th year in Bachelor of Education in SEN/FET at the University of Witwatersrand. I am very passionate about my career because I know that every learner has the right to receive quality education and to be taught by teachers that love their job and have the learners’ best interests at heart. Growing up as a child that did not have both parents, I realized that one of the roles that teachers play within the school environment is that of a parent, as children spend most their time under the care and supervision of a teacher. I aspired to become a teacher because my high school teachers encouraged me to reach my full potential and their selflessness inspired me to a point where I want to emulate that for other learners and essentially become a teacher with a good heart.

My aim during a lesson is to link the learners everyday knowledge to factual knowledge in order to shift their misconceptions and to build the learners understanding of the concepts. This I can do by utilizing different ICT tools (Integrated Communication Technologies) such as PowerPoint, Simulations, cartoons, YouTube Videos, etc. These tools will enable the learners to understand the concepts and be able to visualize the content instead of just grasping it. The languages I am proficient and able to teach in are English, Setswana, isiXhosa and isiZulu. My students can expect a safe learning environment which allows them to make mistakes and learn from them and as mentioned above, I can teach grade 7-12. Essentially, any learner.
