About Ella
I’d lean into that story because it makes you much more relatable as a tutor. It shows that you understand why students struggle with writing, rather than presenting yourself as someone for whom it was always easy.
Writing did not always come naturally to me. As a younger student, I often had too many ideas and struggled to organize them clearly on paper. With the support of patient teachers and tutors, I learned how to turn those ideas into structured, compelling writing and eventually developed writing into one of my academic strengths.
Today, I study Philosophy and Business Economics at the University of Chicago, where rigorous coursework has continued to strengthen my writing, critical thinking, and communication skills. Because of my own experience, I understand how frustrating writing can feel when a student knows what they want to say but struggles to put it on the page. I aim to provide the same patient, encouraging, and individualized support that made such a difference for me by helping students find their own voice while developing skills and confidence they can carry with them throughout their education.

I provide writing, editing, and proofreading support for students from elementary through high school, including academic assignments, essays, and applications. My approach focuses not only on improving the piece of writing in front of us, but also on helping students become stronger, more confident, and independent writers.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs and can include brainstorming and outlining, strengthening arguments and organization, improving clarity and style, or working through grammar and sentence structure. Rather than just making corrections, I explain the reasoning behind edits and work collaboratively with students so they can apply those skills to future assignments. My goal is for every student to leave with both a stronger piece of writing and a better understanding of how to approach the writing process on their own.
