About Angie

Angie teaches students from 5 to 60+ years old, working with beginners, adult learners, and dancers building confidence or learning choreography for special events.

She specializes in K-pop dance covers, with additional offerings in personalized dance workout classes that blend K-pop and basic hip-hop moves.

With nearly a decade of teaching experience across education, STEM, and dance, plus a background in psychology and technology, Angie understands how different students learn and adapts each lesson to fit individual goals and learning styles.

Students get a clearer picture after the first free lesson, where Angie asks a few questions to understand what they're looking for, conducts a short Kpop dance assessment to see where they're at, and gives both parties a chance to see if it's a good fit.

From there, she creates a customized learning plan based on what works for them. Each choreography (mostly focusing on the chorus, sometimes the dance break) typically takes 1-3 sessions to complete, depending on their pace and the complexity of the moves.

  • 1) What age did you start playing sports? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

My relationship with movement started young through school activities, but it became intentional much later.

In my early 20s, while navigating migration, education, and career shifts, movement became my emotional anchor. And in 2024, during a career break and a period of deep self-reflection, I began training seriously in dance.

That season wasn’t about medals. It was about rebuilding confidence, identity, and discipline. Movement became my therapy, my meditation, and my comeback story.
  • 2) What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you’d still like to discover?

High level: Dance (especially K-pop choreography and performance-based training), focusing on technique, musicality, stamina, and stage presence.

Hobby level: Strength training. I care about core stability and footwork drills to support performance.

Sport I’d love to explore: Martial arts. I’m fascinated by the discipline, control, and mental sharpness behind them.
  • 3) What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

    Transformation.

I’ve reinvented myself multiple times: from Chinese instructor, to therapist, to self-taught software engineer, and now to performer and dance educator. Sport, and especially dance, is living proof that we are not fixed. With intention and discipline, we can grow into new versions of ourselves at any stage of life.

Representation also deeply motivates me. As a multicultural Asian woman who immigrated to the United States and became a U.S. citizen, I want young girls to see strength, grace, intelligence, and resilience reflected in someone who looks like them. If my journey helps even one person believe they can redefine themselves, then the pursuit is meaningful beyond performance.
  • 4) Do you have a sporting achievement that you’re particularly proud of?

I’m proud of building my YouTube dance channel from scratch and growing it consistently through discipline and experimentation.

But more than numbers, I’m proud of performing at an advanced level despite being self-trained. That required humility, studying details obsessively, filming, reviewing, correcting, and repeating.

    Consistency is my greatest achievement.
  • 5) How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

    Challenges made me analytical.

With a background in psychology and software development, I break movement down systematically, almost like debugging code. If something isn’t working, I isolate variables: posture, timing, weight shift, muscle activation.

Emotionally, setbacks taught me resilience. Skill-building is not glamorous. It’s repetitive, uncomfortable, and humbling. That process shaped my discipline.
  • 6) If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

I’d go for a jog with Dahyun from TWICE.

She’s not just a performer. She’s confident, witty, and completely unafraid to be playful on stage. That balance between humor and professionalism is powerful.

During that jog, I’d ask her:
•How do you stay mentally light under constant public pressure?
•How do you maintain confidence while still being part of a team?
•How do you turn personality into stage presence instead of distraction?

As a dance educator, I care deeply about performance psychology. Confidence isn’t about being loud. It's about being grounded in who you are.

Dahyun has that grounded confidence. She doesn’t try too hard - she owns the space naturally.
  • 7) How do you help people stay motivated?

    I help students:
    •Break skills into micro-goals
    •Track visible improvement
    •Celebrate small wins
•Train core fundamentals (especially stability and footwork)

I also model vulnerability. I show my practice process as not just polished performances. That transparency builds trust.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in sports?

    Three things:

    1. Analytical teaching style
I can break down movement technically and clearly because of my STEM and psychology background.

    2. Empathy
I’ve mentored underserved students and understand different learning speeds and confidence levels.

    3. Performer’s mindset
Sport is not only about mechanics but also about energy, presence, and storytelling. I help students move with personality, not just precision.
