About Tamara

I’m a writer, editor, somatic storyteller and lifelong student of attention.

For the past 15 years, I’ve worked across music, culture and the arts: writing, editing, interviewing and shaping other people’s voices and learning how to listen for the story underneath the story.

I’ve always been interested in what happens before language: the sensation, image, memory, place or question that asks to become words.

That curiosity eventually led me beyond journalism and into somatic storytelling, sensory practice, ritual and experiential design. My work now sits somewhere between writing studio, companions for deep dialogue and perceptual experiment.

I believe good writing isn't simply about knowing how to construct a sentence. It's about becoming intimate with what you're trying to say.

So in our sessions, I won't sit above you with a red pen telling you what is right and wrong. I'll sit beside you and help you notice.

We'll follow the details that have charge. We'll listen for the sentence beneath the sentence. We'll use the senses, memory, objects, places, sound, movement and carefully chosen prompts to help you find your way into the work.

I’m particularly interested in working with genius that has been neglected, with unfulfilled potential and individuals struggling to rebirth after burnout.

You don't even need to know what you're trying to say yet.

You just need to be curious.

Bring me your half-formed thought, your notebook, your ramble, strange idea or your stubborn blank page.

We'll see what wants to emerge.

About the lesson

I DON'T TEACH YOU TO WRITE.
I TEACH YOU HOW TO NOTICE.

Writing begins long before the pen touches the page.

It begins in the body. In the way you notice light moving across a room. The rumble in your stomach. The season changing. The sentence you overhear at the market. The memory that arrives through smell. The place where your attention catches and refuses to let go.

I work as a muse for writers: creating prompts, provocations and sensory encounters that bring you closer to your own material, your own voice and the kind of writing you are trying to make.

My approach is somatic, perceptual and deeply curious.

Rather than imposing a formula for “good writing”, I help you develop the capacity to pay attention: to your environment, your sensations, your memories, your impulses and the language already living inside you.

We might work from an object, a room, a photograph, a piece of music, a smell, a memory, a bodily sensation or a single sentence. From there, we follow the thread.

This is especially useful if you:

*feel creatively blocked
*have ideas but don't know how to enter them
* want to find or deepen your voice
*are writing essays, memoir, poetry, fiction or personal work
*want your writing to become more sensory, embodied and alive
* have a piece that needs shaping without losing its soul
* want to develop your relationship with attention and observation

I bring 15 years of experience in music, culture and arts journalism and editing, alongside my work in somatic storytelling, sensory practice, ritual and experiential design.
