Who can I help: Students aged 13–21 with a genuine interest in Art & Design, whether preparing for university applications, building a strong portfolio, or seeking extra support during their degree.
My Approach: Design isn’t just about making things look good, it’s about why they exist. Whilst an eye for detail and aesthetics is invaluable, the true leaders in the field are those who design with principle and purpose. My teaching focuses on rewiring how students think about design: what’s pertinent, and what’s pointless?
Having studied and worked in the creative industries for several years, I know how to connect ideas with communities, consumers, and clients. I bring this same rigour to portfolio building if you're preparing for university applications or post-graduate work.
What to expect from our lessons:
Portfolio Development: Learn how to research, structure, and present a compelling body of work that reflects your voice, interests, and creative potential - tailored to the expectations of top art & design schools.
Creative Problem-Solving: Explore real-world themes, issues, and provocations in contemporary design, making work that considers content, form, communication, and audience.
Research, Writing & Making: Understand how these processes integrate into a unified practice of investigation, reflection, and production. Practical Application: Develop skills across both traditional crafts and contemporary digital tools/technologies to bring your ideas to life.
Critical Reflection: Learn how to articulate your design thinking and decisions - essential for interviews, portfolio reviews, and higher education.
