Find out more about Sagrikaa

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Psychology is a fascinating subject with a purpose of understanding human behaviour and using this understanding to help people.
I developed a keen interest in the subject during my teen age years when I realised how mental health can be a huge factor affecting every aspect of our lives.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

As a student, I have witnessed a lot of teachers and their different teaching patterns. I realised that teaching is harder then it looks because every student has a different learning pattern. In schools and colleges, it is difficult for teachers to focus on every child equally, and that's why I was prompted to enter in private tutoring, coaching and teaching.
  • How does your work help society?

Teaching is the foundation of development, be it life coaching, subject tutoring or developmental teaching. Teaching is something that's sole purpose is the betterment of people and the society as a whole. With my teaching, I try to help people improve their knowledge and overall perspective.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

I do not have a specific role model from my field. However, I do take inspiration from my father about being honest and devoting towards anything I do. He has inspired me to be a kind, honest and hard working person without keeping expectations for rewards in mind.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Except for teaching, I love to volunteer for social work, learn something artsy and creative, hang out with my family and friends and devote some time for self care.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

As a student teacher, I remember teaching my classmates topics right outside the exam hall and running out of breath. Usually they used be impressed by my understanding of the topic but also get irritated because I wanted them to focus and remember everything. After the exam, I used to check with them whether they wrote the answers and used the tips I gave them or not.
This was the time I realised I have a nag for teaching.
