About Alissa
Hello! I’m a passionate pianist and dedicated piano teacher with a conservatory background and over 3 years of teaching experience. Music has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember, not just as a skill, but as a form of expression, creativity, and joy. I have had the privilege of teaching students ranging from very young children (age 3) to adults in their 60s, each with their unique goals and learning styles. This diversity has taught me to be adaptable, patient, and creative in my approach. I strive to create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel safe to explore music and grow at their own pace. Beyond technique and theory, I care deeply about helping students connect emotionally with their music. I believe that piano playing should be a joyful, rewarding experience — something that enriches your life and boosts confidence both on and off the keys. In addition to teaching piano, I am currently pursuing my law degree, balancing my passion for music with my academic and professional ambitions. I also enjoy playing piano for my church, which allows me to share my love of music in a meaningful way.

I believe that learning piano should be both enjoyable and meaningful. My teaching balances technical skills — such as articulation, rhythm, and finger dexterity — with fostering a deep appreciation for the art of music. I use a personalised approach tailored to each student’s age, experience, and goals. For younger children, I incorporate games and creative activities to keep lessons fun and engaging. For teens and adults, I focus on building solid technique, musical expression, and practical repertoire. I emphasise progressive learning — starting with foundational skills and gradually introducing more complex concepts like sight-reading, music theory, and dynamic control. I also encourage active listening and critical thinking about music, helping students connect emotionally with the pieces they play. Typical Lesson Plan Each lesson usually includes: Warm-up exercises to develop finger strength and articulation Review of previous material to reinforce learning and build confidence Introduction of new concepts or techniques, such as rhythm patterns, dynamics, or new scales Learning and practising new pieces or exercises suited to the student’s level and interests Fun or creative activities (especially for younger students) to maintain engagement Wrap-up and clear practice goals to ensure steady progress between lessons You will learn theory, reading music, and your ear will be trained.
