About Ashton
With 4 years of teaching experience and more than 150 students taught, I am a flute tutor dedicated to helping learners of all levels achieve their musical goals. My teaching combines technical instruction—breath control, tone, finger agility, and rhythm—with creative exploration and performance practice.
I tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style and goals, making learning both effective and enjoyable. I also integrate sight-reading, music theory, and ensemble experience to provide a complete musical education. My goal is to guide students towards becoming confident, expressive, and skilled flautists who enjoy music as a lifelong passion.

My flute teaching methodology combines student-centred learning, flexibility, and collaborative practice. I start by understanding each student’s preferred learning style and adapt lessons to ensure that every concept is clear, every exercise is meaningful, and practice is enjoyable.
Flexibility allows me to adjust lesson plans, repertoire, and exercises to suit the student’s progress, goals, and musical tastes. Collaboration is a key component, with students participating in duets, group activities, and interactive sessions that enhance timing, ensemble skills, and musical communication. Positivity is central to my teaching, fostering an environment where students feel motivated, confident, and inspired to grow.
In addition to flute performance, I integrate instruction in music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and rhythm exercises. This comprehensive approach develops technical mastery, expressive playing, and a deeper understanding of music, guiding students to become confident, versatile, and passionate musicians.
