About Liam
I am a college student studying Mathematics, Physics, Law, and Computer Science. At GCSE Level, I earned a 9 in all of the above subjects, and have vigorously studied Computer Science as a hobby.
In the past, I have mentored a variety of people older and younger than me who have shown a deep interest in Computer Science and programming - many of them have complimented me as being a superior teacher to their School/College programming teachers.
Unlike a large amount of modern programming teachers, I know which concepts are particularly difficult for a normal student to understand, which is why I am able to place specific emphasis on those areas and help younger students to fully comprehend them with the use of creative, but engaging, metaphors and hypotheticals.
In my own time, my programming experience involves a wide array of projects, specifically games developed in Unity using C# and mobile applications developed within Python. When it comes to working within a team of programmers, I have an especially proficient knowledge of how to effectively communicate and collaborate. As a result, my ability to convey these ideas to pupils is especially strong and solidified.
While I am still young, I hope you will consider me as a mentor.

My methods of teaching involve always having a specific structure to the lessons that students can familiarise themselves to. Namely, I try to have three portions when teaching programming - the physical "Theory", the mental "Mathematics", and the visual "Application".
The "Theory" is an incredibly overlooked, yet essential, aspect to programming. When it comes to programming, being able to understand the 'lingo' is incredibly important for researching online documentation and topics revolving around a problem you may be having - if you do not know how a programming concept works, or what it is called, then you will not be able to fully appreciate the solution for future use. That is something I strongly believe, and as such, I try to go as in-depth as possible in all aspects of teaching the 'Computer Science' behind practical programming.
Similarly, almost every part of programming includes some small part of 'Mathematics' that is often overlooked in teaching. This is because Mathematics and Computer Science are both logical processes, and something that can be logically figured out. The more you understand about Mathematical concepts, the more you understand about Programming, and vice versa. Therefore, in mentoring Programming, I also hope to improve your Mathematical logic and reasoning skill.
However, lessons would be boring if theory was all we ever talked about. That is why the 'Application' is so important - to show how, in a realistic situation, you would be able to use the knowledge within a Development Environment to produce your wanted software. Otherwise, what would be the point in learning how to do it? Despite the importance I place on the theory, the application of your knowledge will always be the most important part, and will take up about 50% of the lesson and.
As I teach, I hope to build a valuable, personal rapport with any pupil I have, and I will immediately work to research and understand any question that I may not be able to answer immediately. I am an especially patient mentor, and I am absolutely content to redo explanations of certain concepts if they are not immediately understood.
Similarly, I hope for everything I teach to be understood to as in-depth of a level as possible, and I will consistently refer back to previous lessons and give optional assignments to ensure my pupils have a strong memory of everything I teach.
