About Hazel
My passion for computer programming began the moment I realised that a few lines of code could shape an entire digital world. Over the years, that fascination transformed into expertise through dedicated study, long hours of practice, and real-world application. I pursued formal education in computer science while simultaneously teaching myself new languages, frameworks, and technologies. Teaching programming allows me to share not just knowledge, but the excitement of turning abstract ideas into functional creations. Each student interaction reminds me that coding is not a privilege for the few, but a powerful skill that anyone can master with guidance and persistence. I see teaching as both a science and an art. While logic forms the backbone of programming, understanding how a student thinks allows me to guide them more effectively. I adapt my instruction to suit visual thinkers, analytical problem-solvers, or creative experimenters, ensuring that each learner finds their own path to success. I believe failure is simply feedback, and I encourage students to view mistakes as an essential part of growth. My lessons are built on encouragement, clarity, and gradual mastery, making even the most complex topics feel achievable. Outside the classroom, I remain deeply immersed in the tech world by building personal projects, contributing to open-source initiatives, and continuously learning emerging programming languages. This ongoing journey keeps my teaching fresh, relevant, and grounded in reality. Programming is not just my occupation — it is the language through which I understand the world. Sharing it with students is my way of passing on the tools of creation, innovation, and endless possibility.

Computer programming is far more than learning to write code; it is the art of teaching the mind to think logically, creatively, and strategically. My lessons are centred on building strong foundational concepts while gradually introducing advanced programming principles that enable students to move from simple syntax to full-scale application development. From the very first session, learners become familiar with core programming logic, understanding how algorithms, data structures, and flow control work together to bring ideas to life. I emphasise clarity, patience, and step-by-step problem solving, ensuring students develop both accuracy and confidence as they progress. Programming is made approachable through real-world examples, hands-on exercises, and interactive projects that simulate realistic challenges. Each lesson is guided by structured goals, but flexibility allows space for curiosity and innovation, ensuring a dynamic and engaging learning experience. As students advance, the focus expands to include object-oriented programming, debugging strategies, and efficient code design. Intermediate learners explore functions, modular programming, and basic data structures, while advanced students dive into web development, APIs, databases, and automation. I incorporate collaborative coding, logic puzzles, and project-based learning that encourages independent thinking. Every session is carefully mapped to the student’s pace and objectives, whether they aim to pass exams, build applications, or pursue a career in technology. My approach ensures that technical difficulty never becomes overwhelming, but instead transforms into an exciting intellectual challenge. The ultimate purpose of my programming instruction is empowerment. Through coding, students learn persistence, analytical reasoning, and digital literacy in an increasingly technological world. They build programmes that solve problems and create tools that reflect their creativity and intellect. Many have gone on to build portfolios, compete in coding challenges, or pursue advanced studies in computer science. Most importantly, they leave with a problem-solving mindset that applies not only to computers, but to every area of life. Programming becomes their language of innovation, confidence, and future opportunity.
