I graduated as a computer engineer from EPITA. Linux is my usual operating system, and I've always worked with it. Through my cursus, I learned more and more about it, reaching a state where I understand how everything works within Linux, knowing most of the useful programs and utilities it offers.
The goals of the course, according to the level and desires of the student:
- Understanding Linux, its concepts (permissions, files, processes, groups), and its kernel
- Introduction to the command line
- Linux programs and how they're managed by the system
- Files manipulation (compression, reading, editing)
- Creation of Bash shell scripts
- Must-know utilitaries (DHCP, udev, vim, emacs, apt/yum, ftp, grep…)
Course methodology: learning by the example, use of course materials, exercises to be completed out of the course and corrected with the student. The subjects of the course and the order of learning will vary from one student to another, depending on the needs and priorities.
