About Peter
I'm a PhD student at the Université de Montréal, where I research computational neuroscience and machine learning. I moved here from the UK in 2021, having previously completed a BSc in Genetics and an MSc in Bioinformatics.
Since arriving in Montreal, I have gained hands-on teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant across several university courses. Prior to this, I volunteered teaching underprivileged children back in the UK, an experience which reinforced my belief that good teaching is as much about patience and adaptability as it is about subject knowledge.
I have a genuine passion for the natural sciences and for learning itself, which I think comes through in my sessions. I pride myself on my organizational skills and professionalism, while always aiming to keep things approachable and engaging.

My teaching approach is tailored to each student's individual needs. When a subject requires building from scratch, I focus on first principles to establish a solid foundational understanding.
When a student struggles with specific concepts, I take time to identify the underlying knowledge gaps and work systematically to address them.
I believe strongly that theory must be reinforced through practice, so I provide out-of-class assignments alongside constructive feedback, which also serves as a further diagnostic tool for any gaps that may not have surfaced in session.
I'm comfortable working with students at all levels, and am committed to creating a learning environment that fosters curiosity and a genuine interest in the subject.
