About Avni

Hi, my name is Avni, and I am a NYU student in Journalism and Economics. Dance has been a central part of my life for over 10 years. Throughout my journey, I have trained in a variety of styles, from contemporary and expressive dance forms to the discipline and artistry of Indian classical dance.

Dance has taught me valuable lessons in dedication, confidence, creativity, and resilience, lessons that I now love sharing with my students. Over the years, I have performed at numerous prestigious venues, like the UNESCO World Festival of Dance, and developed a deep appreciation not only for performing but also for teaching and mentoring young dancers.

One of the most meaningful experiences in my teaching journey has been working with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including teaching dance to a student with special needs. This experience strengthened my ability to adapt lessons to each child's unique learning style, ensuring they feel supported, included, and empowered to succeed.

I believe that every child can benefit from dance, whether they are looking to build confidence, improve coordination, prepare for a performance, or have fun. My goal is to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, trying new things, and celebrating their progress.

Whether your child is taking their very first dance class or looking to take their skills to the next level, I am excited to help them grow as both a dancer and an individual.

About the lesson

Looking for a dance teacher who can help your child build confidence, technique, and a love for movement? I offer engaging dance lessons designed for children and teens of all experience levels, from complete beginners to experienced dancers.

My Teaching Style

I believe the best way to learn dance is through a balance of instruction and practice. My lessons are interactive, encouraging, and hands-on. Rather than simply demonstrating choreography, I break movements down step-by-step, provide personalized feedback, and incorporate practice drills and fun activities that help dancers improve quickly while enjoying the process.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
5-minute warm-up to prepare the body
Choreography instruction with approximately one minute of dance prepared for each lesson
Teaching the routine in small, manageable sections
Individual corrections and feedback after each chunk to help students improve technique and performance quality
Final 15 minutes dedicated to running and practicing everything learned so far, building confidence and performance skills

My goal is for students to learn at least half of the planned choreography each lesson while feeling challenged, successful, and excited to continue.
