About Gabriela

My name is Gabriela, I currently in Georgia and I am a college student . My parents are both from South America, one being from Colombia and the other being from Ecuador. I took ESL classes for about 3 years when living in Europe, ESL stands for english as a second language because spanish is my first. I was able to receive my Seal of Biliteracy award in high school for passing an exam that consisted of reading, writing and speaking spanish. Since I have worked with kids for a while, I have a lot of patience and love to help in any way I can. I would love to be able to teach others a new language.

About the lesson

One of my teaching methods are communicative which means teaching through vocabulary and the context by telling stories or narration. For example asking what and where they will eat for dinner, what they did that day or even just getting to know them! Another method of teaching I like is the silent way. It allows the student to figure out more out on their own and you help by using props or signaling other words. It allows the student to think on their own but still lending some help. My typical lesson plan would be, first knowing how my student is doing and getting to know them. Then, talking about what they learned about that day, what they are having trouble on as well as what they are doing very well in. In the practice aspect i will assign homework to students involving reading and writing and let them know I will always be there to help. What sets me apart as a tutor, is that since I have worked with children for about 6 years, I am very patient. My number one priority is making my students feel comfortable and feel they are getting somewhere I want to see my students excel and want to be able to one on one focus on strengths and weaknesses.
