About Benjamin
I was the technical nerd at architecture school, enjoying all things building science, building code and standards compliance and importantly understanding the basics of how a building is put together.
In my day to day job, I review and monitor building compliance for large scale commercial buildings working directly for one of Australia's biggest construction companies.
I have an undergraduate degree in architecture and masters degree in building surveying and fire engineering. I am also a qualified building surveyor and charted builder. The crossover in architecture and building compliance means I can help ensure your designs are buildable and building code compliant. Everything from structural design, fire safety and fire rating, toilet numbers, fire stairs and exits, energy efficiency and material selection and use.
I have tutored at universities in Canberra and Perth and I enjoy passing on the knowledge I have learnt from working in the "real world" of construction.

I come across too many fresh architecture and construction graduates not knowing the basics of building code compliance and general construction buildability. A strong understanding of these things is what is the difference between a good architecture and a poor architecture. I want to see more construction professional know how to use the building code to their advantage rather than an impediment to their designs. I can help you with the basics, review your work and provide guidance on what you need to do to ensure your design meet basic building code compliance expected at post graduate level.
