About Catherine
Catherine Coleman (aka CC Undertree) is an English Educator changing the world, one word, one story, one student at a time.
For the last 20 years, I have been teaching both English and ESL classes in various situations, including business English, private ESL schools, California State, University, and Community. I love learning, and I have been fortunate to earn an M.A.in Linguistics, a Certificate in TESL, a Certificate in Teaching Reading, and a B.A. in English. I will be starting another graduate program in 2022. Learn or die is one of my personal life mottoes.
In addition to my classroom experiences, I tutor students in college writing labs and privately on my own. I have been helping students develop their English since 1999. One-on-one instruction has always been my favorite since I can really make a significant and immediate difference in students' lives.
I am also a writer. I have written three instructional books, one on Academic Editing strategies with Verb Form. I will be finishing the next book in the series, Academic Editing with Verb Tense, soon. I have just finished my first novel about an immigrant hero in a Choose What's Next interactive fiction titled Atokoli: Scorched Wing. I also have a short writing guide for getting into medical school. I have plans in the works to create a student-driven Idiom book, so stay tuned for that! So many ideas… so little time …
I am originally from Oklahoma, which is in the Midwest, USA. Before I became an educator, I lived in Mexico for two years; that experience helped me to become a better educator for non-native English speakers. Now, I am firmly planted in the Southern California soil with my husband of 24 years, Mr. C, and I plan to continue teaching here for many years; nonetheless, I also have dreams of helping students in the global Community develop their English skills through videos, lectures, and books, and of course, tutoring! The world gets smaller every day and I love having my tiny part in bringing people together! I so am very fortunate to have good friends, a supportive family, and a multitude of current and former students in my life.
