About Cole
I got into guitar through Guitar Hero. I got my first guitar, and a "how to play" DVD at age 7. I was so confused by the DVD I put down music for 7 more years until I found a mentor who could teach me in a way that worked for me. In the 10 years since I've honed my skills in many areas of music, mostly to help my band succeed, but I can't help but wonder, "what if all that information was accessible to me from the jump". I teach so that my students have access to all that I've learned and won't have to jump through as many hoops to learn about all the aspects of being a musician and the music industry.

My lessons are best suited to those who want a little bit of everything. I can teach you some theory, some technique, history, industry, recording, playing out, etc. If you want to go from either no experience, or beginner experience to being a competent and confident player, engaged in the scene you belong to, I'm a good place to start. If you're already happy with your playing, but want to move into the public eye, I can also teach press releases, contact databases, album campaign overviews, digital marketing plans, concert posters, etc. A lesson plan would start with you and I identifying your goals as an artist, your current strengths, your current weaknesses, and then building a path towards achieving those goals. For example, if you wanted to be a solo singer-songwriter the skills you might want to develop are: -Acoustic Guitar Playing -Writing Lyrics -Home Recording -Basic Music Theory -Social Media Basics -Live Show Booking -Streaming Services Each one of these skills would take the form of a miniature class, with its own pathway suited to you. Ex: Acoustic Guitar Playing Open Chords Strum Patterns Major and Minor Barre Chords Major and Minor Scales Learning the Fretboard Picking Vs. Fingerpicking Supplementary Music Theory History of Acoustic Guitar / Famous Players For any skills you'd want to prioritize, I'm happy to spend disproportionate time on them, and or discard others. If you don't care about "learning from the greats" we could skip the history lesson for example. or if you didn't have interest in fingerpicking.

Cole is one of the best instructors I've ever had for the bass. As a self-made artist, he has a fine-tuned knowledge of the craft and he's instilled me with the confidence to play to the best of my ability.
Cole is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher - playing guitar & bass since he was a child himself … alone and with bands … in the classroom and on stage. He can also lean on his academic tutoring experience to help students along. Frederick School of Rock.
I’ve been in a band with Cole for a handful of years now. He’s taught me a lot of what I know about music theory, and he makes it accessible, fun, and immediately practical for someone like me with no formal training.

My rates are flexible and dependent on the amount of preparatory work I need to do outside of our lesson time to ensure your success. If you only want to learn guitar at a beginner level, and you don't want any of the bells and whistles, I'm happy to charge less. But if you want to learn about digital marketing, press, labels, advanced techniques, and I have to build a whole curriculum, that costs a little more.
