About James
I am a teacher of Classics and EPQ at a boarding school in Berkshire and a graduate of the University of Cambridge, with a degree in Classics.
I have tutoring experience in Latin, Greek, English, History, and Common Entrance, and have helped students with university preparation (including for Oxford and Cambridge) for degrees across the humanities. I have taught Classical subjects from beginner through to A Level/IB and beyond and have helped students achieve substantial improvements in their exam results.
I achieved 10 A*s at GCSE and 4 A*s at A Level, so I can really help you with exam technique and help you produce high quality essays. My A Levels are in History, English Literature and Mathematics and I can tutor up to GCSE in these subjects.

I can help students with translation and composition of passages in Latin and Greek, working through A Level and GCSE past papers, and with essay plans for the longer essay questions in English Literature and Classics. In a typical language session, we might go over tricky vocabulary and grammar using short examples, work our way through some relevant past paper questions, and create useful revision material. Learning through repetition, specific examples, and regular progress checks are key.
