About Grace
I am a flutist and pianist with a lifelong classical foundation and a love for helping students find their own voice on the instrument. I earned my degree in Music and History from Brown University, where I performed everywhere from formal recitals to campus concerts and rock shows. My own training began in classical flute and piano as a child, and in high school I was honored as Flute 1 in the National Association for Music Education All-National Orchestra, one of the top student honors in the country. I also won several competitions and participated in the Delaware County Youth Orchestra. I have experience teaching flute, piano, and music theory to young beginners, and I welcome flute students of all levels, from first-timers to advanced players preparing for auditions and honor ensembles. Whatever your starting point, I want to help you achieve your goals, whether that means learning how to make a sound or building a skilled and advanced repertoire.
I currently work in finance with plenty of time available after work and over the weekends.

I structure lessons around a balance of strong fundamentals, repertoire building, and musical expression, while tailoring each lesson to the individual student’s goals. Lessons typically begin with fundamentals and warmups appropriate to the student’s level, followed by focused technical work and repertoire. I draw from the structure of a traditional classical lesson, while making sure students understand not only what they are playing, but why they are playing it that way.
After each lesson, I send students notes summarizing what we worked on, along with a practice plan and specific goals for the week. This gives students a clear roadmap for practicing independently and helps us build consistently from one lesson to the next.
I also value each student’s individual interests and musical tastes. If a student loves pop, film music, jazz, or another style, I look for ways to incorporate those interests into a strong classical foundation, using the music they enjoy to make lessons more engaging and personally meaningful.
