About William

I started the clarinet when I was nine, and studied with a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for six years. I received a Bachelor of Music degree with Distinction from Indiana University’s School of Music, and went on to study with Robert Marcellus of the Cleveland Orchestra. Soon after I got my first job in the Greater Miami Philharmonic, and two years later joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. I retired from the ASO in 2015, and currently perform with a gypsy jazz group in Washington state.

About the lesson

I have had great training, and a long career with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. I have answers to how to improve your tone, your technique and your musicianship that I would love to share. I believe playing the clarinet is an activity that can be learned by anyone who has the right information and is willing to do the work, and I have the knowledge to guide you. I am looking for students who want to learn, and who want a supportive, knowledgeable teacher to help them.
