About Maxim
I hold a Doctorate in Philology from the Sorbonne University and a PhD from KU Leuven. I offer private tuition in a range of languages, with particular expertise in ancient and Byzantine Greek (from complete beginner to advanced level, including grammar, reading, and the study of manuscripts). As a native speaker, I teach Russian at all levels. I also offer French for beginners and intermediate learners, Dutch for beginners, and Church Slavonic, covering grammar, the reading of texts and manuscripts, and practical application.

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to Church Slavonic, covering its grammar and the practical reading of mediaeval manuscripts and liturgical texts. Students will also explore the history of religious literature in the Slavic world, gain insight into the structure and meaning of Orthodox liturgy, and engage in the exegesis of the Holy Scriptures as they were translated from Greek into Slavonic.
