About Derrick
Hey! My name’s Derrick but you can call me DJ. I first started playing when I was 8 years old and came under the tutelage of an incredible pianist by the name of Rebecca Wolfe who taught me everything she knew about pianos and how to play them. After a few years, she gave me the advice to go and hone what she’s taught me, playing piano for stage performances, church, and general recreation with the goal being to always learn something new every time I played and to find my own style of playing. Ever since then, I’ve been playing with small bands as well as a few local churches, specifically my home church called ‘The Mount’. I’ve been playing there for about 3 years, learning and growing every day :) ! I’m really excited to meet you all and not only teach you about piano, but also be a listening ear if you ever need it. Hello guys, I’m Derrick and I’m excited to teach you the basics of piano! My course is designed for entry-level pianists trying to find their way in the vast world of music. Under my instruction, we’ll get to know the basics of the piano, notes, intervals, music composition, as well as some music theory made simple. We’ll work together to find out what you’re interested in and focus on that, with the goal of each lesson being to learn something new!
