About Kathleen
Singing should be a joyful and physically liberating experience for everyone involved. Have you ever wondered why certain notes feel easy while others require more effort? My lessons utilise my 5 years of experience to address your unique technical requirements.
We work on microphone technique, performance confidence, and genre styling across pop and musical theatre. Sight singing and diction are also regular features of our time to ensure you are a well-rounded musician.
I offer free access to my breathing and warm-up exercise notes to support your home practice. This material helps intermediate learners and grade exam candidates stay consistent between our meetings. Technical accuracy in belting and resonance is balanced with artistic expression. I find that focusing on the science of breathing leads to better control and richer tone.
My goal is for you to leave our sessions feeling more confident and connected to your music. I truly enjoy seeing the progress you make when you master a difficult passage.

Training singers for 5 years means I have worked with a huge variety of people including choristers and choral scholars. My Bachelor of Music in Voice from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland grounds my approach in deep anatomical understanding. I frequently guide classical voice students who are currently preparing for intense conservatoire auditions.
Working as a choir director gives me a unique perspective on how voices function within an ensemble setting. Returning learners often find my background helpful when they want to rebuild their confidence after time away from singing.
Most of my students appreciate that I focus heavily on the physical mechanics of sound production. Developing a healthy instrument is the foundation of everything we do in our time together. My method involves a blend of rigorous technique and playful exploration of different vocal colours.
You can rely on my formal training to keep your vocal health at the forefront of our work. Getting you to your specific vocal goals is the primary motivation for every single interaction.
