About Leif
My teaching methodology is centered around effective communication, patience, and adapting to each student's learning style to make chess both enjoyable and educational. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as it's part of the learning process. Through clear explanations and interactive lessons, I introduce essential chess concepts such as openings, tactics, strategy, and endgames. I also adapt my approach to suit the individual needs of each student. Whether they are beginners or advanced, I ensure that lessons are paced to match their level and progress. I believe that patience is key to fostering a positive learning experience, especially when tackling complex concepts. Beyond chess, I can also teach subjects that complement it, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning. My goal is to help students grow not just as chess players, but as critical thinkers who can apply these skills in real-life situations.

With 3 years of tutoring experience, I’m passionate about helping high school and college students master chess. Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching around 150 students, guiding them through the fundamentals, openings, middlegames, and endgames. My focus is on building strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and confidence on the board. I’ve celebrated many milestones, including helping students win local tournaments and improve their ratings. My goal is to inspire each student to reach their full potential and achieve success in chess.
