About Albert

Chess Tutor

Peak Chess.com Elo 2250 | Member of the UCL competitive chess team. Trained in China’s national chess circuit; awarded CCA Master at age 11. Native English speaker, ex-chess coach in Singapore, and former training partner for Xie Jun (4-time Women’s World Chess Champion).

I love teaching because chess is far more than memorising moves. Having trained alongside elite players and competed myself, I enjoy passing on structured, practical knowledge and helping students experience the satisfaction of watching their own game sense grow. My lessons are practical, goal‑focused, and designed to turn ideas worked through in lessons into reliable, winning habits over the board.

All lessons in native English, for beginners through competitive players.

Personal approach to private tutoring

I specialise in building personalised opening repertoires curated to fit each student’s unique playing style, instead of pushing rigid, one-size-fits-all lines. Beyond openings, I develop strong middlegame understanding: guiding students to assess positions accurately, formulate clear strategic plans, manage pawn structures, and make sound decisions under tournament pressure.
