About Felix
My name is Félix Argüelles Loy, I am a 7 seven year experienced teacher having tought chess courses in Ecuador, Cuba, as well as Spain, where I am currently living.
My classes have been directed to beginners (kids and adults of different ages) and also to plus 2100 tournament players. I pay special attention to the precise use of the language in my classes in the search for reasoning and learning of my pupils, as well as their motivation for the game, which is inseparable part of my life, to the extent of deviating from my former profession of electrical engineer to give myself to chess teaching.
Although I confess I prefer in-person classes, I perform well in the online world and the use of Skype and several chess softwares and useful webs to complement my classes, and also make use of thousands of books, courses, databases and problems of all phases of the chess game organized by levels, together with my practical tournament experience and even my father-in-law´s (Grand Master), who is also my trainer and considers my strenth already IM level, even when my FIDE rating is still 2245. My major professional success is the improvement of my students.

My method is based on the combination of theory and practice and the treatment of all phases of the game. Therefore in the classes the resolution of tactical / calculation exercises, strategy and endings are combined with the analysis of games and the development of thematic games.
