About Nova

I have 7 years of experience teaching chess to students ranging from beginners to advanced competitors. I hold a B.Sc in Mathematics and Cognitive Strategy, giving me expertise in logical reasoning, problem-solving, and strategic analysis. My teaching combines technical skill-building, analytical reasoning, and creative strategy, helping learners develop both confidence and competence in chess.

In my lessons, I cover tactics, strategy, openings, endgames, calculation, visualisation, and tournament preparation. Each session is tailored to the student’s abilities, goals, and learning preferences, creating a supportive, engaging, and challenging environment. I emphasise independent thinking, patience, and structured reasoning to enhance both skill and confidence.

Outside teaching, I study competitive games, classical theory, and contemporary tournaments, integrating these insights into lessons to provide context and inspiration. Witnessing students transform from hesitant beginners into confident, thoughtful, and capable players is deeply rewarding. My mission is to cultivate strong, strategic thinkers who excel in chess and beyond.

About the lesson

Chess lessons thrive when students combine tactical skill with strategic insight. I focus on openings, middlegame combinations, endgame techniques, positional understanding, pattern recognition, calculation, visualisation, and decision-making under pressure. Lessons include interactive problem-solving, analysis of classic and contemporary games, tactical exercises, and simulated matches to strengthen reasoning, planning, and confidence. Students are encouraged to think ahead, anticipate outcomes, and refine their analytical abilities, improving both chess performance and general problem-solving skills.

Lesson plans are customised to the student’s proficiency. Beginners learn piece movement, basic tactics, fundamental strategy, and check patterns. Intermediate learners develop stronger positional awareness, tactical combinations, endgame understanding, and planning skills. Advanced learners explore deep openings, advanced endgames, competitive psychology, and high-level strategic evaluation. Each session blends practice, analysis, and feedback to ensure steady, meaningful progress and long-term skill development.
